In 1998, Charlie Fortney was part of the planning sessions and dreams for a professional team in Harrisburg. He was an all-star member of that team in 1998-99. Now he returns as head coach as the Horizon enter their 2^nd decade. As a high school player, Fortney led Steel-High to its 1^st ever Mid-Penn Championship in 1989. He went to UNC-Greensboro on a full scholarship and starred on their team for 4 years. Before joining the Horizon, Fortney played professionally for the CBA Harrisburg Hammerheads and the Schuylkill River Rangers. Charlie is director of Advanced Hoops Basketball Camps and considered the area’s outstanding youth basketball instructor.
