EBA ANNOUNCES END OF YEAR HONORS April
6, 2005, Harrisburg, PA...6'1" sparkplug guard of the league Co-Champions Harrisburg
Horizon, Dave Jannuzzi, has been named Most Valuable Player of the Eastern Basketball
Allaince for 2005. This is the third time that Jannuzzi, the Wilkes-Barre Native, has
garnered the top award. He won in 2002 and 2003. Coaching and out-of-state tournaments
prevented him from competing in the EBA in 2004. Jannuzzi lead the league with a 33.3 ppg
average. His all-around play contributed to the Horizon capturing their fourth straight
league crown.
Delaware's Anwar Scott was named Newcomer of the Year. Anwar
twice scored over 30 points and added over 20 on four occasions as he posted a 28.5 ppg
scoring average. His addition to the Destroyers line-up contributed mightily to their
sharing the league crown with the Horizon.
Al Clocker, the perennial king pin among the EBA coaches,
claimed his seventh Coach of the Year award over the leagues eight year existance. This
award has significant meaning this year, because Clocker also was named WEBA Coach of the
Year with his undefeated (9-0) Lady Horizon team. This is the first time a coach has been
named to the top honor in both leagues and the first time a coach has guided an undefeated
team in both leagues. Clocker's men's team went undefeated in 2002.

with a 7-2-record. Dave Jannuzzi lead the victorious Horizon with 29 points and five other
teammates joined him in double figures. Daniel, Shue and Rowe had 18 each, Palmer 16 and
Inman 14.

March 12, 2005, Harrisburg, PA... EBA scoring leader Dave Jannuzzi scored 29 points to
lead his Horizon (6-2) to a 111 - 90 victory over upstate Schuylkill Fire Dogs.
Brad Merriweather had a brilliant performance for the losing Fire Dogs as
he scored a game high 32 points and added 22 rebounds. His effort however, was not enough
to overcome the solid team balance of the Horizon.
HORIZON FALLS IN OVERTIME TO DELAWARE
February 27, 2005, Harrisburg, PA... Rasheed Brinkley made the last bucket of
his game high 36 points count, as he sank a shot from the corner with 1.2 seconds left on
the overtime clock to send the Horizon down to defeat 121-119. Until that shot, Derrick
Perry's seven foul shots in the overtime period kept Harrisburg in the game. Perry
finished the game with a season high 35 points. Kevin Rowe had 26 in a losing effort.
Delaware moved into first place by 1/2 game with their win.
HORIZON BESTS UPSTATE RIVALS
February 26, 2005, Harrisburg, PA... Mike Shue scored a season high 31 points
to lead the Harrisburg Horizon to a 123-101 victory over the Wilkes-Barre Blast. Jamal
Palmer added 22 and Derrick Perry and Kevin Rowe each added 21.

points and Kevin Rowe had 26 points as the host Horizon easily defeated
Philadelphia 122-100. Wendyl Daniel playing a strong boardgame contributed 10 of his 18
points from the foul line. Reading's Brad Merriweather was high scorer for Philadelphia
with 29 points with all but six of those points coming in the first half.
SOUTH JERSEY IVY HANG LOSS ON HORIZON
February 13, 2005, Harrisburg, PA...South Jersey Ivy behind ex-Princeton star Brian
Earl's 32 points, handed the Harrisburg Horizon their first loss of the season 111-107.
Strong 3-point shooting by the Ivy, who made 13 from the outer line to
Harrisburg's 6 and the Horizon's inability to convert free throws (21 for 37) lead to the
Horizon downfall.
Dave Jannuzzi was high scorer for Harrisburg with 29 points and his
alley-opp pass to Kevin Rowe put the home team ahead for the first time in the game 92-91
at the 5:52 mark of the 4th quarter. However, minutes later Brian Earl nailed one of his
four 3-pointers and the Ivy grabbed the lead 104-101 with 1:19 on the clock and never
looked back.
HORIZON SWEEP TWO AT DELAWARE
January 29, 2005, Harrisburg, PA... Harrisburg Lady Horizon won a hard nip and tuck
road battle against the Delaware Lady Destroyers at Wilmington, Delaware 77-74.
The Horizon men coasted to a decisive 129-114 over the
Destroyers. Dave Jannuzzi playing his first game of the 2005 season, showed no signs of
rust as he threw in 35 points which included 3-pointers and a perfect 8 for 8 from the
foul line as the Horizon used a dominant team effort for a 129-114 win at Delaware. Jamal
Palmer continued his solid all-around game with 19 points and 10 rebounds for his second
straight double-double of the season.Mike Shue came out of
the game in the 2nd quarter with a deep gash under his chin, but returned to play in the
2nd half and immediately threw in three 3-pointers in the space of two minutes. He
finished the night with 16 points. Derrick Perry and Kevin Rowe with 14 points each and
Wendyl Daniel's 11 points rounded out the Horizon's six men in double figures.

sluggish first half to post their first win of the 2005 season 113-94 over the Schuylkill
Fire Dogs.
With league MVP Kevin Rowe in foul trouble, the Horizon got
a scoring boost from super-sub Derrick Perry when they needed it most in the 3rd period.

and the Horizon coasted to victory from there.
Jamal Palmer, Mike Shue and Wendyl Daniel each had 21
points to lead the Horizon. Bill Merriweather was leading scorer with 19 points for the
Fire Dogs.

HORIZON WIN THIRD CONSECUTIVE EBA CHAMPIONSHIP
Contact: Peter Strella (717) 986-0499
May 12, 2004, Harrisburg, PA... Dominance is a trait that any
sports franchise would like to have. And this year's Harrisburg Horizon had it.
They had it when they won their first five games by an average of
25 points. They had it when they outscored Schuylkill 18-11 in overtime to win what had
been a close game. And they had it in their season finale when they crushed Philadelphia
by 34 points to finish the year with an 8-1 record and their third consecutive EBA
Championship.
With last year's MVP Dave Jannuzzi playing in Texas to start the
year, Harrisburg was going to have to depend on other players to score. It was forward
Kevin Rowe who answered the call, scoring 32 points to lead the Horizon to a 24-point
victory over New York in the season opener. Rowe kept it going by averaging 27 points over
the next four games. The Horizon followed Rowe's lead and won easily over Delaware,
Wilkes-Barre, Schuylkill and Philadelphia.
What came next was Harrisburg's only loss of the season. With
veteran guard Mike Shue out after re-aggravating an off-season wrist injury, the Horizon
lost at home to Brooklyn 91-83. Harrisburg led 41-40 at halftime, but could not withstand
Brent McCollum's 15-point effort in the second half.
With Shue out again, Harrisburg looked shaky in the first
half at Delaware. But the Horizon managed to come back from being 17 points down in the
second quarter to win 114-108. Rowe led the way for the Harrisburg with 24 points.
Still trying to regain their early-season form, the Horizon
were forced into overtime by Schuylkill. Jamal Palmer's triple-double and Dave Jannuzzi's
25 points helped them hand on for a 116-109 victory. Jannuzzi had made his first
appearance for the Horizon three weeks prior against Philadelphia.
Everything came together in the final game of the season,
when the Horizon jumped out to a big lead against Philadelphia and never looked back. They
won 122-89 over Philadelphia to win another league title. This time it was Mike Shue,
making a triumphant comback, who led Harrisburg in scoring 27 points. With Shue back in
the lineup, the Horizon looked like the team that was so dominant early in the season.
The Horizon had some peak performers this year, but Coach Al
Clocker says that Harrisburg's continued success relies on continuity and teamwork.
And, Harrisburg had it. Wendyl "Brutus" Daniel dominated teams inside. Forward
Willie Chandler was a force both in the paint and on the perimeter. Every role player did
his job and Clocker's team-oriented style worked again.
SHUE LEADS OVER PHILADELPHIA 122-89
Contact: Peter Strella (717) 986-0499
May 8, 2004, Harrisburg, PA... The stat sheet will show that Mike
Shue scored 27 points against the Philadelphia Power on Saturday. But stats never tell the
whole story.
After an off-season wrist injury caused the Harrisburg guard to
miss two games, Shue came back for the season finale to lead Harrisburg to a 122-89
victory over Philadelphia.
Shue's return helped forward Kevin Rowe return to his early season
form. Rowe scored 23 points, including 4 three-pointers and was able to get free on the
perimeter as Shue contained defenders by posting up inside. Shue also had a good night
from beyond the arc with 3 three-pointers.
The game was a blowout from the beginning. Though Philadelphia cut
an early lead 20-16, Harrisburg managed to pull ahead by 18 early in the second quarter.
Harrisburg turned it up a notch in the second half and led by at least 20 most of the way.
Guard Chris Rodgers and forward Ed Moore both had 19 points to
lead Philadelphia. Forward Jamal Palmer finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds for
Harrisburg.
It was a season-long struggle for Shue and his injured wrist,
which was broken in a motorcycle accident last summer. Shue played in the first five games
of the season, but looked to be done for the season after re-aggravating the injury
against Philadelphia on April 10.
But Shue said the wrist felt good during a recent pick-up game and
decided to return for Harrisburg's season finale. His return sparked his teammates who
lost their only game of the season to Brooklyn in Shue's ansence.
The Horizon finished the season 8-1 and have owned the EBA's best
regular season record for the past three seasons.
PALMER'S TRIPLE DOUBLE LEADS HARRISBURG TO 106-99 OT WIN
Contact: Peter Strella (717) 986-0499
May 1, 2004, Harrisburg, PA... It was a designed play. But how it played
out was not the way Schuylkill Coach Gary Metza drew it up.
With time running out in the fourth quarter, Schuylkill forward
Jared Mills was forced to take a wild 3-point shot with two Harrisburg defenders in his
face. It looked like a disaster until forward Bill Merriweather grabbed the airball and
made an easy lay-up for the game-tying score.
But Schuylkill failed to capitalize on their good fortune and
Harrisburg won 106-99 in overtime. Guard Dave Jannuzzi led the Horizon with 25 points and
Mills led all scorers with 30 points.
Harrisburg forward Jamal Palmer had a triple double with 21
points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks. Palmer was a defensive force throughout the game,
including one play late in the fourth quarter when he blocked two Schuylkill shooters.
Even with great performances from Palmer and Jannuzzi, Harrisburg
almost blew the game at the foul line. They shot 15-34 in the second half, but Jannuzzi
went 6-6 in the final two minutes of regulation to help force overtime. The Horizon went
29-55 for the game and Schuylkill failed to do much better, making only 13 of 22.
Forward Kevin Rowe, Harrisburg's leading scorer for the year,
failed to reach double-digit points for the first time this season as he finished with 8.
Rowe has not been his usual self since guard Mike Shue left the team two weeks ago because
of a nagging arm injury. Rowe was heard telling Harrisburg coach Al Clocker that he missed
Shue on the court.
Harrisburg will end their regular season next Saturday, May 8 at
home against Philadelphia at 7 PM.
HORIZON POST WIN OVER DELAWARE
April 24, 2004, Wilmington, DE.. The Horizon came back from a 17 point
deficit mid-way through the 2nd period to post a 114-108 victory over the Delaware
Destroyers. Kevin Rowe (24 & 11) and Wendyl Daniel (20 & 1 ) each posted double
doubles.
Newcomer Corey Dickerson came to life in the 3rd period scoring 10
of his 21 points. Harrisburg grabbed the lead at 96-96 and held on for the hard fought
road win.
HORIZON DEALT FIRST LOSS 91-83
April 18, 2004, Harrisburg, PA.. The Harrisburg Horizon couldn't match visiting
Brooklyn's second-half scoring and lost their first Eastern Basketball Alliance game
of the season 91-83, last night at Penn State/Harrisburg in Middletown.
Brent McCollum led the Blaze's second-half effort
scoring 15 of his 21 points over that span. Wendyl Daniel had 26 points and 12 rebounds
for the Horizon, who also got a 23-point game from Kevin Rowe. The Horizon led 41-40 at
the half.
The Horizon go on the road this week to Delaware on April 24
and will be back at home in Middletown Saturday, May 1st vs Schuylkill Fire Dogs and
Syrens.

Harrisburg, April 10, 2004...The Harrisburg Horizon won their fifth straight
game Saturday with a 119-90 win over the Philadelphia Power.
Forward Kevin Rowe scored a game-high 31 points and continues to
lead the league in scoring, averaging 27.8 ppg. Forward Jamal Palmer added 20 points, 9
rebounds and 3 blocks.
Philadelphia guard Jermaine Bates led his team with 21 points. Forwards
Chris Rodgers and Roland Ulmer both finished with 18 points.
The Horizon trailed 24-23 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored
Philadelphia 34-15 to take a big lead into halftime. Rowe was 3-4 from three-point range
and scored 17 points in the first half.
Reigning league MVP Dave Jannuzzi returned to Harrisburg's lineup
after missing four games and scored 8 points off the bench. Jannuzzi first scored when he
drove hard to the basket and beat two defenders for a nifty layup early in the game.
Harrisburg extended its lead throughout the second half, leading
by as many as 30 points in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia was unable to get the deficit
below 18 in the second half.
The Horizon look to extend their winning streak next

Building.
HORIZON TORCH FIRE DOGS 112 - 88

March 27, 2004, Harrisburg, PA... It was more of the same for the Harrisburg
Horizon last night as they cruised to a 112-88 win over the Schuylkill Fire Dogs. The win
improved Harrisburg's record to a league-best 4-0.
Willie Chandler scored 26 points and Kevin Rowe added 23 for the
Horizon, who led by as many as 31 late in the game. Wendyl Daniel contributed 18 points
and 13 rebounds. Forward Jared Mills scored a team-high 25 points for the Fire Dogs in the
losing effort. Forward Cherron Jackson and guard Karim Francisco each had 16 points.
With the score tied at 15, Chandler scored eight straight points
just before the first period ended. Harrisburg never trailed after that point, maintaining
a comfortable lead throughout the game. A turn-around jump shot from forward Jamal Palmer
extended Harrisburg's lead to 20 midway through the third quarter, Harrisburg's average
margin of victory this season is 23.5 points.
Rowe's 23 points were enough to keep him atop the EBA in
scoring with an average of 27 points per game. Rowe was 5-9 from the 3-point range and
grabbed 7 rebounds.
The Horizon will continue their season April 10 when they
host the Philadelphia Power at Penn State/Harrisburg. Next up for the Fire Dogs is a home
game against Delaware at Nativity HS in Pottsville, April 4th.
ROWE SCORES 27, LEADS HORIZON TO 143-107 VICTORY
OVER WILKES BARRE
Contact: Peter Strella - (717) 986-0499
March 20, 2004, Harrisburg... The Wilkes Barre Blast came to play the defending
EBA Champion Harrisburg Horizon last night. But the real blast came when the Horizon
scored 48 points in the first quarter. Wilkes Barre never recovered and Harrisburg ran
away with a 143-107 victory. Power forward Kevin Rowe scored a team-high 27 points to lead
the Horizon in scoring. Center James Inman added 23 points off the bench and former Harlem
Globetrotter Wendyl Daniel contributed 19 points in the winning effort.
The game began with both teams trading baskets and playing to a 10-10
tie. Harrisburg then launched an all-out assult, converting from behind the arc three
times in the first quarter and getting the ball in deep to Daniels, who had his way down
low against Wilkes Barre defenders. Harrisburg exploded to a 48-22 lead by the end of the
first quarter and the game was essentially over. Former Susquehanna HS star forward,
Kevin DeVan led the Blast with 23 points from the forward position. It was not enough. The
Horizon led by as many as 38 and six players finished in double digits. The punchline came
when Rowe lobbed a pass to Inman for an alley-oop with under two minutes to play.
The only dent in the Horizon armor came when guard Mike Shue
injured his left arm midway through the second quarter. Shue's injury occured when his
shot was blocked and though he recovered the loose ball and scored on a short jump shot,
Shue left the game immediately and did not return. He is questionable for next Saturday's
game against Schuylkill. Shue was the team's leading scorer at the time of his injury with
14 points. The Horizon will look to win their fourth consecutive game next Saturday, March
27 as they host the Schuylkill Fire Dogs at Penn State/Harrisburg. The Horizon are
marching towards their third straight EBA Championship.
HORIZON SINK DESTROYERS

March 15, 2004, Harrisburg.. Harrisburg Horizon used the three point bomb to sink the
Delaware Destroyers 114-104. Behind Kevin Rowe's 7 points and Willie Chandler's 2-3's the
Horizon held a 26-21 lead after the first period. Then the game really warmed up and the
Harrisburg men threw in four more 3's in the 2nd period to hold a commanding 58-39 lead at
half-time. Good team scoring distribution combined with solid defense allowed the Horizon
to post the win despite being outscored in the two final periods by the Destroyers 64-56.
Harrisburg had five men in double figures lead by Willie
Chandler's 31 points. He was followed closely by Kevin Rowe with 26, Mike Shue (15), James
Inman (11) and Jamal Palmer (10) completed the fivesome. Palmer posted a double, double as
he added 11 rebounds to his buckets.
Delaware's high scorer was Cheyney U.'s Devon Wade, who
recorded 30 of his game high 32 points in the second half as the Destroyers tried to mount
a come from behind attack. Former All-American from DePaul, Dallas Comegys had 8 points.
The Horizon will look for win #3 next Saturday, March 20
as they take on the Wilkes Barre Blast. Game time is 7PM.
Horizon Handle Pride 127-103 In EBA Opener
Contact: Pete Strella
March 7, 2004 - The Harrisburg Horizon beat the New York Pride
127-103 last night in the Eastern Basketball Alliance season Opener.
The Horizon took a 4-2 lead two minutes into the game and
never looked back. Forward Kevin Rowe scored 13 of Harrisburg's first 15 points, helping
them to a 38-19 lead early in the second quarter. Rowe Finished with a team high 32 points
and 9 rebounds.
"My teammates were looking for me down court," said
Rowe. "We were getting out in the open floor and I was the recipient of a lot of good
passes in the open floor, (which led to) a lot of layups.
Forward Willie Chandler added eight first half points
off the bench as the Horizon substituted early and often. All their players scored in the
first half.
The Pride, behind guard Jonathan Frank's 15 first half points,
chipped away at the Horizon lead to make it 57-47 at the half. Frank finished with a game
high 35 points.
But the Horizon were hot to start the second half, going on a
17-3 run that was highlighted by Mike Shue's three-pointer and a Wendyl Daniel
three-point play. The Pride managed to get within ten with five minutes remaining, but
Harrisburg hit a couple of three-point shots to extend the lead for good.
"I thought everbody played well," said Horizon coach
Al Clocker. "I think it was a typical first game. We need to work on some continuity,
but I think positive signs are there and we're only going to get better as time goes
on."
The Horizon are looking for their third EBA title and
will continue their season at home next Saturday at Penn State/Harrisburg's Capital Union
Building against Delaware. The Pride, who finished second last year, will play their next
game against Delaware at home on March 21.
Horizon Players Join Globetrotters in Europe

Harrisburg, Pa., March 31, 2003 --- "Winning is not a sometime
thing: it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do the right
thing once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately,
so is losing." - Vince Lombardi
For the Harlem Globetrotters winning is the only thing. The Trotters never seem to lose.
Through more than 200 games each and every year, the Trotters always win. It's a habit.
For the New York Nationals, losing is not a sometime thing, it's an all the time thing. A
couple of hundred times every year, the Nationals always lose. To the Trotters, it's a
habit. It's also a part of the show.
And so when the Harlem Globetrotters go to Europe this spring, they will win and win and
win some more, and the New York Nationals will lose and lose and lose some more.
And when the Nationals lose all the games to the Trotters this spring, four members of the
Harrisburg Horizon, players who have become used to winning, (The Horizon has lost only
one game in the last two seasons), will become used to losing and losing and losing some
more, because they will be playing for the Nationals. And losing is what the Nationals do
for a living.
John Ferrari, the assistant coach of the Horizon, who is also the General Manager of the
Nationals, has signed Horizon players Phil Woods, Neil King, Jay DeShields and Donalds
Johnson to play for the Nationals in this spring's European tour. The tour, which tips off
April 11 in Scotland, will also include stops in England, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France
before reaching its winless (for the Nationals, that is) conclusion in June.
"I don't mind losing every night," says Woods, who is also the coach of
Harrisburg's Lady Horizon. "After all, how often do you get a chance to be paid to
see Europe?"
DeSheilds nodded his head in total agreement with Woods. "Getting paid to play
basketball in Europe," DeShields said. "I couldn't ask for anything more."
Except maybe a win?

Harrisburg, Pa., January 27, 2003 --- If it's inevitable that all good
things come to an end then reality set in Saturday night for the Harrisburg Horizon.
Despite a 41 point game shooting performance from Jason Maile, the Horizon were out shot
and out matched by the Delaware express.
A 40 point fourth period brought the Horizon streak to an abrupt end at 15. Trading
baskets and three-point shots, with little defense put the season's first lose on the
Horizon's record.
Jason Maile started the game strong with four 3-pointers in the first quarter posting
14 of his game total 41 in the opening quarter. He had eight 3-pointers for the game.
Mike Shue picked up the pace in the 2nd quarter with three 3 -pointers as the Horizon
led 60-53 at halftime.
However the 2nd quarter proved to eventually be the downfall of the Horizon when
halfway through the quarter, strong forward, Kevin Rowe was ejected for arguing a call.
First time player, Bob Bone, came in for Rowe but contributed no scoring punch.
The teams exchanged basket for basket in the 3rd period as the Horizon increased its
lead forward to 92-83.
Then the fateful 4th quarter began with the visitors from PA stretching their lead to
13 points before the roof fell in and the Express starting raining in buckets. William
Davis made seven baskets out of eight shots in the closing quarter to add the 16 to his
game leading 44 point night. With 28 seconds remaining Delaware tied the game at 121 with
a lay-up and foul shot from Lenny Brown. With one second remaining, the Horizon saw their
win streak halted when an alley-opp shot failed to find the basket.
The Horizon (2-1) will not have to wait long for revenge. The Express (2-2) come to
town next Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Penn State HBG for the backside of the home and
home weekend encounters.
